This would be a cool idea. But adoption will be the key. Don't you think?

also:

[a] if sites start supporting openid - do you think, some of the problem may be addressed - the ones you are highlighting?

[b] will we ever have a DRM for profiles :) - pun aside - its a serious threat -> or maybe it should be DPRM : digital-profile-rights-management - where the usres get to decide - what and how much - data is progogated and funneled through the web - via third party APIs

[c] I think the last part is key - the one you ALREADY mentioned -> Transparency and Disclosure of Third party relationships..

regards
olga-lednichenko-shulman

nesher-israel

also:

[a] if sites start supporting openid – do you think, some of the problem may be addressed – the ones you are highlighting?

[b] will we ever have a DRM for profiles :) – pun aside – its a serious threat -> or maybe it should be DPRM : digital-profile-rights-management – where the usres get to decide – what and how much – data is progogated and funneled through the web – via third party APIs

[c] I think the last part is key – the one you ALREADY mentioned -> Transparency and Disclosure of Third party relationships..

Thanks for the comment, IHQ. I still can't believe Sony did that either. Shockingly bad corporate behavior.

Neat idea, hope it catches on. I guess though that people who are developing software with these kind of 'features' probably don't really care what other people say about it though, or what impact it might have on them if they publish it.

I still can't believe how Sony slipped in that rootkit on their music CDs though - you'd certainly think they should know better, so maybe this would help in those kind of situations.
